All Egyptology-lovers should be delighted with the news that Dr. Zahi Hawass is set to announce major archaeological discovery just after the holiday season.
The news comes after Dr. Khaled El-Enany, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, and Dr. Mostafa Waziri, the Secretary General of Egyptian Antiquities, have paid a visit to Saqqara, where Dr. Hawass is currently excavating.
The excavations are being carried out next to the pyramid of King Teti I by a team of Egyptian researchers. Recently they have found new burial shafts containing coffins and other major material dating to the New Kingdom. Dr. Hawass, Dr. El-Enany, and Dr. Waziri went inside the shafts and inspected the interiors in preparation for the big announcement.
So far, Dr. Hawass has only revealed that the new discovery will shed new light on the archaeological history of Saqqara.
