Museum of Sharm El-Sheikh close to opening

June 05, 2020

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is preparing for major openings in Egypt, one of which is the Museum of Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Museum received new precious objects that have been moved from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The artefacts inlcuded the wooden solar boars of king Senusert III from the Middle Kingdom.

Senusert III was one of the greatest kings in ancient Egyptian history. He is known for his major military campaigns, building projects, and unique style in statuary. He built his pyramid in Dahshur where these boats were found. The boats were moved to the Egyptian Museum in 1910 where they stayed until their current move to Sharm El-Sheikh.
