A team of archaeologists working for the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities near the site of Mit Rahina, the ancient capital of Memphis, have unearthed a rich variety of material.
The team has found decorated blocks and statues dating to the reign of Ramses II and the Coptic Period which shows continued use of the land throughout time.
The latest addition to the discovery was a block statue found yesterday. It is made from a single granite block and depicts a priest of the goddess Hathor.
